| ABUSED DVD SUSAN GREENBERG CASE
A&E IndieFilms: Abused DVD18 years ago, she killed her 'boyfriend' and pled guilty to murder. Today she wants to tell her story for a chance at freedom.
In 1987, 20 year old Susan Greenberg was living a horrible life under the control of her abusive older boyfriend. One day, he returned from working outside. When she asked what he was doing with a shovel, he replied, "I was digging your grave." Then he raped her. She grabbed his gun and shot him 6 times. Without 'battered woman syndrome" as a viable defense in '87, her lawyer advised her to plead guilty to avoid the electric chair, and she was sentenced to 25 years to life. Thanks to new laws in California in 2002, after 18 years in prison, Susan finally gets a second chance at a real life. That is where the film begins.
ABUSED is an all-access feature documentary that takes viewers along on Susan's dramatic journey through her retrial. It's a roller coaster ride of emotions, showing the legal system at work on a very personal level, and concludes in a way no one could have expected. |
